Mrs C: This week has been quite busy, leading up to both my birthday and Christmas has meant quite a few meetings with family and friends but it hasn’t interfered with training and when I have eaten out I have made healthy choices to ensure I don’t go backwards with my progress. This time of year is always challenging with so much temptation around but I have learned over the years that binging for weeks is simply unnecessary and leaves me feeling unhappy and unhealthy. I now try it take a healthier approach and allow the odd treat without using the season as an excuse to eat everything in sight! Training has gone well this week, I have been lifting heavy and feeling tired but good at the end of my sessions. My trainer introduced me to some high intensity cardio which is going to form part of my prep in January and I must say I found it tough going. I have found as the months have gone by my lifting capability has gone up and up but my ability to cope with intense bursts of cardio has taken a fall. Quite the opposite to where I was 12 months ago! Nevertheless I am still looking forward to starting the prep in January and seeing my body change. I have certainly made positive changes since I got back from my holiday and the weekly progress pictures that I have been taking have proved to me that I am now in a much better place to start prep than I was 8 weeks ago!
Mr C: Things are still very busy for me at the moment, and I’m still struggling to fit in full workouts. That, coupled with the time of year, means things have slipped a little in terms of diet and exercise, but not excessively. I am of the opinion that since we know January will be the start of several months of intense work and strict nutrition, it is very important to make sure I allow myself to enjoy some freedom now. Workouts have still been going well, aside from being shorter than I’d like, so I’m comfortably beating my personal bests quite often right now – in terms of motivation, that helps. We had a meeting with out trainer this weekend to have a chat about aims, goals and planning for the start of our cut in January. It really brought it home that we start this soon! As I said at the time, I’m looking forward to it in some ways, and I know I can do it because I have done it before, but I’m also dreading it in some ways because I know how much it takes over life! Still, there’s another week, and Christmas to get past before then, and I plan to try and enjoy that while keeping things in perspective. So for the week ahead, it’s about keeping up training, making sure to not go too mad on Christmas food, and of course I’ve got 3 more work days to do too!
