Mrs C: 1 week down….. First week of prep has been interesting…. I busted up my toe on the 2nd day leaving it bruised and incredibly painful. It was the same toe that I damaged a few months back so it wasn’t properly healed from the last time. I may or may not be broken…. I am not sure but it’s made training more challenging that it should be! I have felt good in my workouts although the return of HIIT cardio is not something I welcome… but needs must!! Food has been 100% perfect, no cheats or extra grams of anything. The beginning of the week was the hardest as I was on nights with lots of temptation around me. But I got through it and now after a week of no sugary things I feel better and not craving as much anymore. I have 2 weeks off work now so I can really put everything into my prep and I can take the pressure off Mr C by making all his meals too while I am off in the daytime!
Mr C: Well, the first week is always pretty tough, and this one hasn’t disappointed. I wouldn’t say I’ve been craving as such, but being on a pretty big calorie deficit straight after all of the excesses of Christmas and bulking is has just left me pretty constantly hungry. Prep has been fairly straightforward though, and I’ve not strayed from the plan. In terms of the exercise part, again I’ve kept it to the book. The plan at the moment is cardio (3 days) and weights (4 days) but that’s all done on the same 4 days, if you know what I mean. That has been both a blessing and a curse for me. On one hand, it’s meant that I can get my training out of the way earlier in the week so I make sure I get some time to recover and relax on the weekend when I’m also free of work. But on the other hand, the training days are so intense and the workout is so tough that by the time I’ve done it all I’m feeling pretty wiped. The lack of food to fuel it just makes that worse! I have been struggling with some shoulder (persistent problem for years) and back (always a problem) issues this week too, probably just my body’s reaction to changing routine again. Plus I have been pushing things quite hard. Next week I have a meeting in London on the Tuesday so will have to handle travel and the social stuff the night before to make sure things stay on track (fortunately the hotel has a gym!). Aside from that, more of the same next week I guess!
