We’re a few days into the latest phase now, and as we write this, we’re 8 days out from the show!! We’re doing weekly assessments with our trainer to make sure he’s keeping the balance right with everything. This week has been about a sort of a mini-carb-cycle really. Exercise has been less of a focus now really, as it’s just maintenance for the last little bit before we hit the stage.
Things have become a lot more simple now, having cut out whey protein, dairy and cut down fats quite a bit. Meals have been chicken, turkey, fish and egg whites for proteins, and bulgur wheat, rice sweet potato and boiled potato for carbs, and very little fat coming from a couple of egg yolks and a few nuts. We are working through water depletion now, so have been drinking a lot (up to 8 litres on the highest day) and supporting that with a LOT of asparagus. The water reduces going into the show to dry us out and hopefully give us a good lean, dry look on stage.
Exercise is pretty much the same – Mrs C is doing 12-15 reps with a medium weight, Mr C is still heavier and slower, fuller reps. Exactly what exercises we do has been left more to us now, as the nutrition is the key focus at this stage – building the physique was done weeks/months ago.
We have another check-in Saturday before we get told what the final week is going to look like!! So close now.. We’re both nervous and excited!
