It’s been a tough couple of weeks, but we thought we’d check in quickly. We did the North West Tough Mudder on 12th September, which was great fun! Mr C loved it and is seriously considering doing the full UK calendar at some point in the future, while Mrs C is glad she did it, feels she has ticked that box, and has no desire to ever do it again…
Part of the reason for that is that Mrs C has, since then, picked up a horrendous cold, which has impacted training and diet quite a bit. Since we do everything as a team, Mr C has not been doing too great on either front too… We both suffered with running problems to some degree – Mrs C more so, since Mr C has done quite a bit of running in the past and therefore is a bit more used to it. We did the event as part of a larger team who picked up their fair share of injuries and problems too – it’s a fun event, but one to be taken seriously!
It is quite surprising, now we stop to think about it, how easy it is to pick up illnesses or injuries when going about life. While Tough Mudder is obviously not a run-of-the-mill weekend jog, it does make you realise that you can easily sacrifice your main goals without intending to! That said, we’re still on track, had a great weekend and a good laugh with some friends, and raised a few quid for charity, so all in all a success!
